Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sharply criticized MP Kangana Ranaut for her controversial remarks concerning the farmers' protests. Mann emphasized that Ranaut was elected to address issues in her parliamentary constituency of Mandi, not to make 'absurd' and 'baseless' statements. Ranaut recently suggested that the farmers' protests could have escalated into a Bangladesh-like crisis if not for strong leadership, a comment that has ignited significant controversy.

Following Ranaut's statement, her party distanced itself from her remarks and urged her to desist from making such statements in the future. Mann stated, 'People elected her as an MP to resolve the issues of Mandi constituency, and not to make absurd and baseless statements that would create unrest in society. It is an incorrect statement; an MP should not make such statements that would hurt someone.'

Mann called on the BJP to take control of its MPs, citing the potential for anger and unrest stemming from such 'absurd' statements. Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent a legal notice to Ranaut and the producers of her film 'Emergency', alleging a misrepresentation of Sikh history. The film, set for release on September 6, has been accused of portraying Sikhs negatively, sparking further outrage and protests, including the burning of Ranaut's effigy by aggrieved community members.
