Israel launched a substantial military operation in the West Bank on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of at least nine Palestinians, according to Palestinian officials. The action mainly targeted Jenin, known as a militant stronghold.
The operation comes in response to ongoing conflicts that have been frequent since Hamas attacked in October. Israeli forces focused on areas like Jenin, Tulkarem, and the Al-Faraa refugee camp. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said seven militants were killed in airstrikes, and five suspected militants were arrested.
Palestinian militant groups exchanged fire with the Israeli military, and officials reported that Israeli forces had blocked access to hospitals and other key infrastructure. The conflict has seen significant casualties on both sides, with continued international efforts seeking a cease-fire.
