China made an appeal on Tuesday for increased global endorsement of its peace plan for Ukraine, following diplomatic talks with Indonesia, Brazil, and South Africa.

Envoy Li Hui referred to these nations as crucial representatives of the Global South, emphasizing their shared commitment to world peace. He highlighted their efforts to maintain communication with both Russia and Ukraine, aiming for a political resolution through dialogue.

China and Brazil initiated a joint peace plan earlier this year, calling for a peace conference involving both Ukraine and Russia, with no battlefield expansion. While China and Russia did not attend a June peace summit in Switzerland, Ukraine has noted China's influential role in the peace talks due to its close ties with Russia.

Despite the ongoing conflict, which saw Ukraine open a new front in August, concerns grow over Western support for Ukraine using aided weapons. Li criticized the West's approach, while NATO and the US accused China of enabling Russia's war efforts, resulting in expanded US sanctions on Chinese firms trading with Russia.
