National Conference and Congress Finalize Seat-Sharing Deal for J&K Assembly Polls

Post extensive discussions, the National Conference and Congress agreed on a seat-sharing formula for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The NC will contest 51 seats, while Congress will vie for 32. Additionally, one seat each was allocated to CPI(M) and JKNPP. A friendly contest will occur on five seats.

Following extensive negotiations, the National Conference (NC) and the Congress reached a seat-sharing agreement for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, slated for 51 NC seats and 32 Congress seats.

In a joint press conference at NC president Farooq Abdullah's residence, it was announced that CPI(M) and the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) would each get one seat under the agreement.

A 'friendly contest' will take place for five seats in the Union territory, to be conducted cordially, according to J&K Congress president Tariq Hamid Qarra. The list of contesting seats and candidate names will be released soon.
