The Election Commission has rescheduled the Haryana Assembly polls from October 1 to October 5 to accommodate the Bishnoi community's centuries-old festival. The decision was applauded by both the Bishnoi community and the ruling BJP.

Som Prakash Bishnoi, vice president of the Akhil Bhartiya Bishnoi Mahasabha, expressed gratitude, stating that the community was concerned about potential conflicts between the festival and election day.

The festival, in memory of Guru Jambheshwar, sees thousands of Bishnoi families travel to Bikaner, Rajasthan. The EC's move was aimed at respecting this tradition while ensuring a strong voter turnout.
