Union Minister of State (MoS) BL Verma has sharply criticized the National Conference and Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir in the lead-up to the upcoming assembly polls. Labeling the partnership as "mismatched" and driven by "political and personal interests," Verma argued that the conflicting ideologies make the alliance purely opportunistic.
Speaking to ANI, Verma stated, "The INDI alliance is mismatched. Their ideas and policies do not align; such agreements are made due to political and personal interests." He praised the central government for fostering an environment conducive to democratic participation, noting the high turnout in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Verma called on Rahul Gandhi to clarify his stance on Article 370. The PDP manifesto promises efforts to restore Articles 370 and 35A, facilitate diplomatic initiatives between India and Pakistan, and ensure the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits. PDP remains committed to restoring J-K's original status and safeguarding the rights of its people.
The Election Commission of India has announced that polling will occur in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with vote counting on October 4. These elections are the first in Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370.
