The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted multiple searches across the Gariyaband district of Chhattisgarh, investigating the IED blast incident that occurred during the 2023 state assembly polls.

The said blast was orchestrated by CPI (Maoist) cadres targeting a convoy of polling and security personnel returning from Badegobra village on November 17. The attack resulted in the death of an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) head constable, as per the NIA statement.

The NIA teams executed raids at nine suspected locations in Chhotegobra village, a region plagued by Maoist activities. Multiple mobile phones and digital devices were confiscated. The agency, which undertook the case in March, has identified several overground supporters of the CPI (Maoist) involved in facilitating the heinous act.
