Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday paid his respects at Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ashram in Champaran town, Raipur district, Chhattisgarh.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, and Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal, Shah visited Prakatya Baithakji Mandir and Champeshwar Mahadev temple.

Champaran, believed to be the birthplace of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, is about 40 km from Raipur. The Union minister, on a three-day visit since Friday, chaired a critical meeting with chief secretaries and DGPs of Chhattisgarh and adjoining Naxalite-affected states in Nava Raipur.

Discussions focused on security and development in LWE-affected regions. Shah is set to address the press at 6 pm. This marks his first tour to the state after the Modi-led government's third-term victory. Anti-Naxalite operations in Chhattisgarh, where security forces have killed 142 Naxalites in various encounters this year, are notably on the rise.
