The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), in collaboration with major Muslim organizations, has called for the immediate withdrawal of the newly proposed Waqf Amendment Bill. The groups have labeled the bill a 'conspiracy' aimed at undermining and seizing Waqf properties.

In a joint statement, the AIMPLB and other prominent Muslim organizations voiced deep concerns, stating that the bill threatens the protection and transparency of Waqf properties under the guise of reform. Controversial provisions include altering the definition of Waqf, changing the role of mutawallis (trustees), and restructuring the Waqf Boards. Of particular concern is the increase in non-Muslim members in the Central Waqf Council and Waqf Boards.

Critics argue that such changes violate Article 26 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees minorities the right to establish and administer their own religious and cultural institutions. The AIMPLB pointed out that the bill would centralize control, reducing the autonomy of Waqf Boards and increasing susceptibility to government interference. They urge the government to reconsider and withdraw the amendment to prevent the erosion of Waqf rights and the protection of religious endowments.
