The BJP State Election Committee for Haryana convened on Thursday to deliberate on potential candidates for the October 1 state polls. Key committee members, including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, attended the two-day meeting at the party's district office, Gurukamal in Gurugram.

A senior BJP leader confirmed that the meeting would continue on Friday to finalize the candidate list. On Thursday, the committee members reviewed some applications and agreed on a few names. The discussion will extend into Friday for finalizing other names.

Prominent attendees included State BJP President Mohan Lal Baroli, State Co-in-charge Surendra Nagar, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Election Co-in-charge Biplab Deb, Gurugram MP and Union Minister Rao Indrajit Singh, and Faridabad MP and Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar. Once the meeting concludes, a list of three potential candidates for each assembly will be forwarded to the central leadership for further deliberation. The final candidate list is expected to be announced post-central level discussions. A report of this meeting will be sent to the central leadership by August 25.
