Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated projects costing Rs 21.28 crore and laid foundation stones for works estimated at Rs 16.39 crore in Sheopur district on Thursday.
The Vijaypur assembly segment will require a bypoll because Congress MLA Ramniwas Rawat resigned from the party and joined the ruling BJP. Rawat has since been appointed as the forest minister in Yadav's cabinet.
Additionally, the CM transferred a bonus of Rs 115 crore to 36 lakh tendu leaf pluckers, many of whom live in Vijaypur. Vijaypur has 2.42 lakh voters, including 65,000 tribals. The bypoll schedule is yet to be announced.
