Union Minister Bhupender Yadav on Thursday criticised the West Bengal government and the INDIA alliance for allegedly exploiting OBC reservations for political gain. He claimed that they have included 75 Muslim communities in the OBC list without following the legal standards for OBC inclusion.

Yadav claimed the West Bengal government submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court, revealing that out of 77 castes included in the OBC list, 75 were Muslim communities. "This means, did the West Bengal government consider the standards of the law for inclusion of OBCs while including them?" Yadav questioned, pointing to the inclusion of the Khota Muslim community without inquiry into their backward status as a clear example of appeasement politics.

Yadav also accused the INDIA bloc of engaging in vote bank politics, citing the inclusion of 75 communities into the OBC list without scientific data or surveys. "Governments in Telangana, Karnataka, and now West Bengal have snatched the reservation of Hindu OBCs and given it to minority Muslims just to satisfy their appeasement politics," Yadav stated. He demanded that the INDIA alliance leaders explain their actions and warned that people should be aware of their appeasement politics and punish them accordingly.
