In a significant political move, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge declared his openness to alliances with other opposition parties for the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, deeming BJP's promises to the region as mere 'jumla'.
Kharge, accompanied by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, engaged with local Congress leaders and grassroots workers to assess the party's preparedness for the polls and potential alliances. He reiterated Congress's commitment under Gandhi's leadership to restore statehood. "We promise to work towards that," Kharge asserted, criticizing BJP's unfulfilled pledges.
Kharge pointed out the ruling party's anxiety post-Lok Sabha polls, noting BJP's failure to enact several legislations. Highlighting the INDIA bloc's success against BJP, Kharge promised to restore rights, create jobs, boost investments, and promote peace in the region.
