Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh announced Thursday that a seat-sharing formula with alliance partners will soon be finalized for the upcoming assembly elections.

After a seat-sharing meeting, the Congress party will state the number of seats it aims to contest. Kamlesh discussed these plans with district presidents while preparing for the state Assembly election due later this year.

In the 2019 assembly polls, Congress contested 31 seats, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) 43, and RJD seven seats. This time, applications from candidates for all 81 seats have been solicited. The final decision on the number of seats Congress will contest will emerge from the seat-sharing meeting, to be held soon.

Kamlesh stated the party would vie for seats where its organization and candidates are deemed strong. Candidate applications have been compiled and will be scrutinized at the district level before being sent to AICC for final review.

AICC secretary-cum-incharge Saptagiri Shankar Ulka and Dr. Bela Prasad are scheduled to visit Jharkhand on September 6 to participate in Samvad Aapke Saath in Simdega and will attend the political affairs committee meeting.
