Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent U.S. presidential candidate, is reportedly preparing to drop out of the race by the end of this week and endorse Republican former President Donald Trump, according to unnamed sources cited by ABC News.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kennedy's campaign announced that he would deliver a national address on Friday in Arizona to discuss his 'present historical moment and his path forward.' An ABC News reporter noted that Kennedy neither confirmed nor denied his potential endorsement of Trump.

Kennedy's running mate, Nicole Shanahan, commented that Kennedy is deliberating an end to his campaign to ally with Trump, who is the Republican nominee. Trump indicated to CNN that he is open to Kennedy playing a role in his administration if he exits the race and endorses him. Kennedy, 70, began his campaign as a Democrat but has struggled to gain traction, with recent polls showing his support at just 4%.
