Top Haryana Congress leaders gathered on Wednesday to finalize the party's strategy for the upcoming assembly polls, emphasizing electability and loyalty in candidate selection.
Key leaders, including former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Congress Committee president Uday Bhan, attended the Pradesh Election Committee meeting at the Constitution Club.
A leader present at the meeting revealed that Rahul Gandhi stressed the importance of loyalty and winnability in ticket distribution. The candidate selection process will commence in the coming days.
The Election Commission announced that the 90-member Haryana assembly polls will be held on October 1, with results on October 4, triggering the Model Code of Conduct.
Currently ruled by the BJP, Haryana's Congress aims to reclaim power after a decade in opposition. The BJP formed an alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party after the last elections, which later dissolved. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, both BJP and Congress secured five out of ten Haryana seats each.
