Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has expressed his approval of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's reported statement on forming an alliance for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Singh noted that AAP's Haryana in-charge would discuss the matter with national convenor Arvind Kejriwal before making a final decision.
Sources indicate that during a Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting, Gandhi sought the views of Haryana Congress leaders on the potential alliance. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring that the alliance's votes remain undivided to secure a victory against the BJP in the polls.
Despite Kejriwal's earlier announcement to contest all 90 seats independently, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda mentioned the possibility of offering only three to four seats to AAP, which could affect alliance formation. The Congress CEC meeting also finalized candidates for 49 out of 90 seats, with further announcements expected soon.
