In a significant boost to Tamil Nadu's economic ambitions, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday inaugurated 19 projects totaling Rs 17,616 crores and laid the foundation stone for another 28 projects valued at Rs 51,157 crores. These initiatives, according to State Industry Minister TRB Raja, will generate job opportunities for 64,968 individuals.

Stalin marked the opening of the 'Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2024' at a private hotel in Chennai. The event featured the inauguration of multiple projects and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between various companies and the Tamil Nadu government. Notably, a significant investment of Rs 36,000 crores from Singapore-based 'Semcorp' was confirmed.

Highlighting the state's green energy ambitions, TRB Raja announced that Tamil Nadu aims to become the Green Hydrogen Capital. He revealed that an MoU with Japan and Singapore would pave the way for the production of the first green hydrogen molecule in Thoothukudi. Additionally, a partnership with Greenko Company aims to establish three pump storage facilities, bringing in an Rs 20.114 crores investment and 1,500 jobs.

Further emphasizing technological advancement, Chief Minister Stalin laid the foundation stone for 'TN ENGINE', a collaboration between Tata Technologies and Tamil Nadu Engineering & Innovation Centre at Anna University, Coimbatore. The project's initial phase, worth Rs 166.88 crores, will focus on advanced engineering technologies.

Speaking at the event, Stalin revealed that the state had attracted investments worth Rs 9.74 lakh crores over the past three years, generating direct and indirect employment for 31 lakh individuals. He stressed that Tamil Nadu offers a conducive environment for investors with its robust law and order, skilled workforce, and the highest number of women in the labor force.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government's focus on women's development, noting that over 1 lakh jobs from the new projects would be allocated primarily to women. These initiatives, spread across multiple districts, are expected to drive socio-economic growth.

Explaining the broader vision, State Industry Minister TRB Raja said that Tamil Nadu is on a path to becoming a trillion-dollar economy, a key goal of the Chief Minister. He highlighted that the Rs 68,773 crores worth of projects launched today would create employment for over 1.6 lakh people, fueling local economic rejuvenation and bringing the state closer to its ambitious economic target.
