Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra declared on Tuesday that the party will abstain from fielding a candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election in the state.

Accusing the BJP of engaging in 'sabotaging and horse trading' of elected representatives, Dotasra emphasized the Congress party's commitment to democratic principles. 'We do not rely on such slips like the BJP. They have a full majority for the Rajya Sabha candidate selection. We believe in democracy and oppose sabotage and horse trading. Therefore, whoever the BJP nominates will likely be elected unopposed,' he stated.

Dotasra, speaking at an event commemorating former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary, also targeted the central government for allegedly endangering the Constitution, democracy, and reservation policies. He claimed that central agencies are being misused to consolidate power, adding that the country is facing a civil-war-like situation while the Prime Minister is occupied with foreign tours. Dotasra criticized the 'One Nation One Election' slogan, arguing that recent election announcements for just two out of four states indicate contradictory practices.
