In a significant move towards social justice, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has annulled the decision of lateral entry into the bureaucracy, as announced by Union Minister L Murugan on Tuesday. He stated that Modi's revocation underscores his respect for the constitution and commitment to social justice for the common citizens.

Earlier in the day, the Centre directed the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to cancel its latest advertisement for lateral entry posts. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw commented that PM Modi's decision reflects a commitment to Babasaheb's Constitution and social justice, aligning with the principles of reservation.

Meanwhile, the Congress has deemed the cancellation a victory for their opposition to the scheme. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi stated on social media that they will protect the constitution and the reservation system against conspiracies like BJP's 'lateral entry' plan.

Following the directive from the Prime Minister, the Department of Personnel and Training Minister Jitendra Singh wrote to the Chairman of UPSC, officially cancelling the advertisement for several mid-level positions. The step has sparked a debate on transparency and social justice in government hiring practices.
