Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday conferred degrees to 333 students at the first convocation of Sardar Patel University (SPU) in Mandi. The Governor also awarded medals to 36 meritorious students, included 12 gold medalists.

In his address, Governor Shukla congratulated the graduates and highlighted the commendable progress of SPU in a short span. He emphasized the university's phased implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the establishment of the Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell, and the formation of various academic committees as essential steps towards achieving the university's vision.

Shukla remarked that the ceremony was more than just the conferral of degrees, representing a significant moment in students' lives and inspiring them for their future journeys. He stressed the importance of lifelong education and the alignment of India's education system with NEP 2020 principles, noting India's youthful demographic and economic potential. Guest of Honour, IIT Ropar Director Rajiv Ahuja, underscored the pivotal role of research and called for integrating AI and drone technology in sectors like agritech and food processing.
