Senior TMC minister Udayan Guha has sparked outrage by threatening to break the fingers of those blaming Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and demanding her resignation over the rape and murder of a woman doctor.

PTI has not yet verified the authenticity of the viral video in which Guha made the controversial statement, saying, "Those who are attacking Mamata Banerjee, pointing fingers at her, and demanding her resignation will never succeed. Those pointing fingers at Mamata Banerjee will be broken and crushed."

The incident follows the discovery of a young woman doctor's body on August 9 in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The doctor was allegedly raped and murdered, sparking national outrage. A civic volunteer was arrested the next day in connection with the crime.

Protests by medical college students demanding justice for the victim have paralyzed hospital services across West Bengal, as emergency and outpatient departments in most state-run hospitals remain closed. The Calcutta High Court has transferred the case probe from Kolkata Police to the CBI, which began its investigation on August 14.

Drawing a parallel with student unrest in Bangladesh that led to a change in governance, Guha stated, "We will never allow West Bengal to turn into another Bangladesh."
