Prominent Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi filed his nomination on Monday for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypoll from Telangana. Singhvi was joined by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, various ministerial colleagues, and AICC incharge of party affairs in Telangana, Deepa Das Munsi, while submitting his nomination at the state legislative assembly.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Telangana had endorsed Singhvi's candidacy on Sunday night. Chief Minister and state Congress president Revanth Reddy introduced Singhvi to party MLAs, MPs, and MLCs at the CLP meeting, reiterating that Singhvi would focus on highlighting the state's issues in Parliament and courts, particularly those arising from disputes with neighboring Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation in 2014.

Singhvi expressed honor at being nominated and met Congress leader K Keshava Rao, whose resignation from the Upper House led to this bypoll. Rao has expressed confidence in Singhvi's unopposed victory given the Congress majority in the state assembly. The Telangana Legislative Assembly comprises 119 members, with Congress holding 65 seats. Ten BRS MLAs have recently joined Congress, with BRS seeking their disqualification.
