In a significant political move, members of OBCs and nomadic tribes resolved on Sunday to stake a claim in the Ausa assembly constituency in Maharashtra's Latur district by fielding a candidate in the upcoming elections.
The meeting, presided over by Haribhau Gaikwad, state president of Bhatkya Vimukt Sanghatna, witnessed robust participation from several backward classes and tribal community members.
A resolution to contest from the Ausa seat was adopted, given that 75 to 80 percent of the constituency's population comprises OBCs and nomadic tribes. Similar strategies will be explored for the remaining five constituencies in Latur district, with the seat currently represented by BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar.
