Congress Gears Up for Assembly Polls Amid Leadership Meetings

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday convened a high-level meeting with all general secretaries, state unit chiefs, and AICC state in-charges as the party prepares for the upcoming assembly polls.

Key figures such as former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, general secretaries Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal attended the meeting at AICC headquarters. Sources reveal that the party chief reviewed preparations for the upcoming contests in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand, with potential polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi noted the favourable public mood but warned against complacency at a recent parliamentary party meeting. Party leaders in poll-bound states have conducted separate discussions with Venugopal and leadership. This month, the Congress established screening committees for the poll-bound states, with Ajay Maken, Girish Chodankar, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and Madhusudan Mistry appointed as chairpersons.
