The Israeli military confirmed the strike, alleging that the school harbored a Hamas command center, a claim that Hamas has denied. Fadel Naeem, director of the al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City, informed The Associated Press that the hospital received the bodies of 80 victims.
The school was serving as a shelter for individuals displaced by the ongoing conflict. Medical teams were able to identify 70 of the victims, while body parts believed to belong to at least 10 others were also recovered.
