The Congress on Saturday noted it is praiseworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Wayanad, expressing hope that he would also make time to visit Manipur, which has been suffering for over 15 months now.
The opposition's comments coincide with Modi's visit to landslide-stricken Wayanad in Kerala.
'It is good that the non-biological PM is in Wayanad today. It was a devastating tragedy,' stated Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh in a post on X.
'Following this, he (Modi) is scheduled to visit Ukraine to halt the ongoing conflict. We hope he finds the time and inclination before then to visit Manipur, which has been in deep distress for over 15 months,' Ramesh added.
The Congress has consistently criticized the prime minister for not visiting strife-torn Manipur, despite numerous calls.
On Saturday, Modi conducted an aerial survey of disaster-hit regions in northern Kerala, where landslides have resulted in over 200 fatalities.
