On Thursday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan unveiled a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to aid families affected by the recent landslides in Wayanad and Kozhikode. The proposed initiative includes the construction of 1000 square feet single-storey houses, which can be expanded to two storeys.

During an all-party meeting, it was unanimously decided to prioritize those who lost their homes in the devastating landslides. The plan also includes measures to ensure livelihoods by providing employment opportunities and training for women. Additionally, banks are considering writing off debts for those impacted by the landslides.

Furthermore, the rehabilitation package envisions rebuilding schools and implementing a disaster warning system. Over 200 people lost their lives in the landslides, and 78 individuals are still missing. The state plans to seek assistance from central agencies and climate change institutes to fortify its disaster preparedness.
