Mumbai - Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday underscored the importance of the opposition bloc Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) presenting a chief ministerial candidate for Maharashtra's forthcoming assembly elections. Raut's remarks followed party president Uddhav Thackeray's meetings with senior Congress figures
Historically, the MVA has refrained from collectively endorsing any candidate for the state's top post, with elections set for October. When asked about advocating for Thackeray as the chief ministerial candidate, Raut deflected, instead spotlighting the efforts of Thackeray and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in opposing BJP-led government policies.
Addressing reporters in New Delhi, Raut emphasized the need for a recognizable face for both opposition and ruling parties in the polls. The MVA includes Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar). His comments come amid Uddhav Thackeray signaling readiness to be the MVA's CM candidate.
