In a heated session of the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Anurag Thakur's speech on the Union Budget has sparked significant controversy. Labeling it as 'highly abusive and unconstitutional,' the Congress has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of encouraging this parliamentary breach by sharing the speech on social media platform X.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized Thakur for his apparent reference to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's caste and accused the BJP-RSS and Modi of deep-rooted casteism. The remarks led to a fierce altercation between opposition and treasury benches, with Gandhi himself condemning the speech but refusing to seek an apology.

During the row, the Congress emphasized the importance of a socio-economic caste census, demanded by 80% of the population. The Chair, Jagadambika Pal, promised that the contentious comments would be expunged, yet the unedited speech remains online, further fueling the scandal.
