Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill was placed face down on the road and handcuffed after being detained for a driving violation on Sunday ahead of his NFL team's season-opener. The Miami-Dade Police Department has opened an Internal Affairs investigation into the incident.
Hill, who led Miami in receiving yards last season, was detained near the Dolphins' home stadium but released from custody in time to play in the team's home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. One of the officers involved has been placed on administrative duties pending a review.
'That should tell you everything you need to know,' Hill told reporters after Miami's 20-17 victory. Late in the third quarter, Hill scored on an 80-yard touchdown play and celebrated by putting his hands behind his back to simulate being handcuffed. After the game, Hill provided some details about the incident, saying he had followed his uncle's advice to comply with police instructions.
