Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Kiren Rijiju have strongly criticized Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his recent speech in the Lok Sabha. Vaishnaw accused Gandhi of undermining democracy and the Constitution by questioning the constitutional role of the Speaker. He also recalled Gandhi's past actions, including tearing an ordinance publicly.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also condemned Gandhi's remarks. Rijiju labeled Gandhi's behavior as 'irresponsible' and emphasized that the Lok Sabha operates under established rules, of which the Speaker is the custodian. Rijiju said, 'Rahul Gandhi should adhere to parliamentary rules, which he continually breaks.'

Gandhi's speech, which criticized the Union Budget 2024, drew parallels with the Mahabharata. He argued that the country is trapped in a 'Chakravyuh of lotus,' representing the BJP's symbol. Gandhi accused Prime Minister Modi and other leaders of instilling fear among farmers, workers, and youth. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla intervened during Gandhi's speech, urging him to follow parliamentary rules.
