Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged as a symbol of hope and representation for more than 4.4 million Indian-Americans, according to Democratic fundraiser Ajay Bhutoria. Her presidential campaign is reportedly producing results through organic, grassroots enthusiasm.

At 59, Harris is the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, having declared her candidacy last week after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for a second term on July 20. However, she is still awaiting official confirmation as the Democratic candidate.

Ajay Bhutoria, deputy national finance chair of the 'Harris for President, 2024' campaign, emphasized Harris' unique appeal to the Indian-American community due to her maternal origins from Chennai, India. Bhutoria stressed the community's potential impact in key battleground states.

The Harris campaign announced it raised USD 200 million and enlisted 170,000 volunteers in its first week. Harris will face off against former president Donald Trump in the November 5 general elections.

"Harris has already united the Democratic Party around her campaign, and the organic enthusiasm is producing noticeable results," Bhutoria stated.

"From record-breaking fundraising to unprecedented volunteer turnout, Team Harris is energized to elect the Vice President and defeat the Trump-Vance ticket," he added.

Bhutoria highlighted the importance of mobilizing voters as the election nears, emphasizing that the race will be close and decided by a small number of voters in key states.

"Kamala Harris stands as a beacon of hope and leadership at a critical juncture in American history. Her candidacy advocates for a future grounded in progress, democracy, and opportunities for all Americans," Bhutoria said.

He concluded, "As we confront a crucial choice between progress and division, Harris offers a compelling path forward."
