Aditya Devi Lal, the grandson of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal, has thrown his hat into the electoral ring by joining the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). The 46-year-old political figure will run for the Dabwali seat in the upcoming October 5 Assembly polls in Haryana.
Lal's decision to part ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes on the heels of his recent resignation as the chairman of the Haryana Marketing Board. His switch to the INLD is a significant blow to the BJP in Sirsa district, especially as another prominent family member, Ranjit Chautala, also left the party recently.
In a strong show of support, Aditya Devi Lal was welcomed into the INLD fold at a rally in Chautala village, Sirsa, attended by party senior Abhay Singh Chautala. Abhay Chautala affirmed that Aditya's candidacy strengthens INLD's position in Dabwali, and took the opportunity to criticize the BJP leadership for being 'opportunists.'
