In a bold call to action, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday urged Home Minister Amit Shah to form a joint committee of representatives from both sides of Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative aims to address regional issues collectively until the disputed territories are resolved.
Speaking at the party's 25th Foundation Day event, Mufti challenged Shah to set aside his ego and emulate former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's efforts to bridge divides between the regions. Mufti also advocated for the reopening of cross-LoC routes to facilitate trade and people-to-people contact.
Mufti criticized the government's current approach, citing increased militancy and the detainment of Kashmiri youth. She celebrated the willingness of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami to participate in elections, emphasizing the importance of democratic struggle for rights.
