AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday accused the government of fostering hatred towards Dalits, tribals, and minorities while criticizing certain BJP-ruled states' directive for shop owners to display their names on the Kanwar Yatra route. Speaking during the Budget discussion in the Rajya Sabha, Singh slammed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's Union Budget as anti-farmer, anti-youth, and anti-businesses, arguing it hasn't benefited any societal section.

Referring to directives from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for eateries to display owners' details, Singh questioned the logic of the move, suggesting it fosters societal divisions. He accused the government of promoting such divisive policies, stressing that India remains a secular nation.

Singh further criticized the central government's reduced allocation for jails and took a jibe at the ruling party, suggesting the condition of jails should be improved in anticipation of BJP members themselves potentially facing incarceration. Independent MP Kapil Sibal and other opposition leaders also raised concerns about unemployment and the absence of a clear roadmap in the budget to address these issues. Sibal cited an ILO report showing significant youth unemployment in India, while other members discussed tax burdens and special state provisions.
