Jaishankar and Wang Yi Push for Stable Indo-China Ties Amid Border Tensions

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Vientiane, continuing their discussions on stabilizing bilateral relations. Jaishankar stressed the need for 'full respect' for the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and adherence to past agreements.

This meeting, the second within a month, highlighted the necessity of providing strong guidance to expedite the disengagement process between the two nations. 'The state of the border will necessarily be reflected on the state of our ties,' Jaishankar noted.

The dialogue comes amid a prolonged border row in eastern Ladakh, now entering its fifth year. Despite some disengagement, a full resolution has yet to be achieved, impacting overall relations, especially after the Galwan Valley clash in June 2020.
