The Belgorod region on Russia's western border with Ukraine is facing 'difficult but under control' conditions following reports of a Ukrainian attack. Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov urged calm and trust in official sources.
According to Russian Telegram channels, Ukrainian forces attempted to break through the border, targeting checkpoints at Nekhoteyevka and Shebekino. However, reports suggest they were repelled with significant losses. Reuters could not independently verify these reports.
Three weeks prior, Russia experienced a significant incursion in the neighboring Kursk region, leading to heightened alerts in Belgorod and other border areas. Authorities are now making arrangements to resettle residents from affected villages and provide compensation, amid ongoing shelling and drone attacks.
