Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday met with Bangladeshi lawyer Rabindra Ghosh in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. The meeting focused on the legal defense of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who is currently detained in Bangladesh. Rabindra Ghosh, in India for medical treatment, is staying with his son in Barrackpore.
The former Rajya Sabha MP assured the Bangladeshi lawyer that his request for a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be forwarded appropriately. Highlighting the plight of minorities in Bangladesh, Kunal Ghosh underscored that state authorities adhere to central decisions regarding international matters.
Rabindra Ghosh has also communicated with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appealing for intervention concerning minority persecution in Bangladesh. The legal battle around the arrested monk reflects broader political and religious dynamics, with Rabindra Ghosh facing potential risks for his advocacy work.
