The 18th edition of Exercise Surya Kiran, a pivotal joint military exercise between India and Nepal, kicked off on Tuesday. The event highlights the robust military ties and fosters collaboration between these neighboring nations.

Conducted alternately in India and Nepal, the current session is underway at the Nepal Army Battle School in the Shivalik ranges. Running until January 13, the exercise centers on enhancing interoperability, mainly in counter-terrorism operations and jungle warfare within the challenging terrains.

With a focus on operational preparedness, the bilateral exercise aims to improve disaster relief efforts and environmental conservation, reinforcing the cooperation between the two military forces. This initiative, featuring 334 Indian personnel led by the 11th Gorkha Rifles Battalion, symbolizes a strong commitment to shared security goals and mutual trust.
