The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that frontline loudspeaker broadcasts were conducted from Thursday evening to Friday morning in areas where North Korea had floated the balloons.

The South Korean broadcasts could elicit an angry response from North Korea, which is extremely sensitive to any perceived attempts to undermine its political system.

According to South Korea, North Korea launched the balloons on Thursday afternoon, marking the seventh such campaign since late May.
