Government Commits Over Rs 1,600 Crore for Fire Services Modernisation
The central government sanctioned Rs 1,604.39 crore for modernizing fire services in five states. It also approved Rs 555.70 crore for Sikkim's disaster recovery after a glacial lake outburst. A total of Rs 5,000 crore has been earmarked for disaster management efforts across the country.

The central government has given the green light to projects worth Rs 1,604.39 crore intended for enhancing and modernizing fire services in the states of Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Kerala. This funding aims to bring about a significant improvement in the effectiveness of fire services across these states.
Alongside, Rs 555.70 crore has been sanctioned from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to aid Sikkim's recovery efforts from the recent glacial lake outburst floods. The devastating floods effected extensive damage along the Teesta river basin, necessitating a rapid response and reconstruction effort to restore normalcy.
The Home Ministry, under the leadership of Amit Shah, continues to implement strong measures to improve disaster management and align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a disaster-resilient India. A variety of funding allocations have been made, including Rs 19,074.80 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for various initiatives across several states.
