The Sikkim Assembly unanimously approved the second supplementary demands for a grant amounting to Rs 200.1 crore on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, who manages the finance portfolio, presented the supplementary demands alongside the Appropriation Bill on the opening day of the budget session. In another significant move, Tamang announced the withdrawal of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill 2022, owing to the introduction of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Moreover, Education Minister Raju Basnet laid out the Capital University (Amendment) Bill, 2025, proposing affiliations in line with UGC guidelines, which is set for discussion on Wednesday. Speaker Mingma Norbu Sherpa and Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa paid a courtesy visit to Governor Om Prakash Mathur, who extended his best wishes for the session ahead of the 2025-26 state budget presentation.
