A criminal case has been registered against a Shiv Sena activist from Thane for allegedly violating election rules, said the police on Monday. The case involves arranging a rally without requisite permissions.
The activist in question, Deepak Mhatre, is accused of organizing a rally for Bhiwandi Rural MLA Shanraram More on Sunday night. The event took place between 9 PM and 10 PM, reportedly infringing on election codes of conduct.
According to an official, the complaint was filed by a poll official, invoking section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act. The case is under investigation, with no arrests made as of now.
