On Sunday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge introduced the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance's joint manifesto, outlining its vision for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra. The manifesto, dubbed 'Maharashtra Nama,' identifies five key areas for the state's growth: farming and rural development, industry and employment, urban progress, environmental protection, and public welfare.
Among the significant pledges is a monthly financial aid of Rs 3000 for women and a free bus service across the state. Kharge also announced a Rs 50000 incentive for farmers who timely repay their loans and a healthcare scheme offering insurance coverage up to Rs 25 lakh, modeled on a similar initiative in Rajasthan. The manifesto also addresses youth employment with a Rs 4000 monthly stipend and plans for a caste census.
Kharge criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of hypocrisy regarding the Constitution and divisive rhetoric. He emphasized the Congress's role in unifying the nation and accused Modi of disrespecting historic figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As elections near, the political confrontation between the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the MVA heats up, marking a pivotal moment in Maharashtra's political landscape.
