A resident of Palakkad district was detained for allegedly making a false bomb threat on an Air Arabia flight bound for Abu Dhabi, authorities announced Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Mohammed Ijas, had emailed a threat claiming a bomb was planted on the flight from Kozhikode. Swift action by airport officials and cyber police traced the email back to Ijas.
Upon arrest, Ijas, who was about to board the flight himself, admitted to fabricating the threat due to not wanting to travel to Dubai under pressure from friends. Legal charges under various aviation and police acts have been filed against him, leading to his remand by a local court.
