Thieves Nabbed After Stealing French Envoy's Mobile in Crowded Market
Two individuals have been apprehended for allegedly stealing French Ambassador Thierry Mathou's mobile phone during his visit to Chandni Chowk market. Overcrowding due to local festivals enabled the theft. Local police recovered the phone after intensive investigation involving CCTV footage and technical intelligence.

In a startling incident, two individuals have been apprehended for allegedly stealing French Ambassador Thierry Mathou's mobile phone during his visit to the bustling Chandni Chowk market, according to official reports on Wednesday.
Ambassador Mathou and his wife were shopping on October 20 when the theft occurred amid the heavy crowd, fueled by the Karwa Chauth and Diwali festivals. The apparent lack of security escort and police awareness added to the chaos that allowed the theft.
Following a tip-off from the French embassy on October 21, local police launched an investigation, reviewing over 50 CCTV recordings. The suspects, Shadab, and Umesh alias Chela, were apprehended on October 26. Both have a record of targeting tourists in crowded market locations.
