Andhra Pradesh's Deepam-2: Free Cooking Gas for Families

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch the Deepam-2 scheme, providing three free cooking gas cylinders annually to eligible beneficiaries starting November 1. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the program and has allocated Rs 894 crore to kickstart it. This initiative fulfills one of the Telugu Desam party's key election promises.

The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for the roll-out of the Deepam-2 scheme, which promises free cooking gas cylinders to eligible families. The initiative, scheduled to launch on November 1, will be spearheaded by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Srikakulam.

This scheme was a pivotal part of the Telugu Desam party's "Super Six" election promises. Naidu has already disbursed Rs 894 crore to petroleum companies as part of the initial phase of distribution. The cost to the state's coffers is expected to reach Rs 2,684 crore.

Eligible beneficiaries will receive a complimentary LPG cylinder every four months, ensuring essential cooking fuel supply throughout the year.
