Andhra Pradesh's Deepam-2: Free Cooking Gas for Families

The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for the roll-out of the Deepam-2 scheme, which promises free cooking gas cylinders to eligible families. The initiative, scheduled to launch on November 1, will be spearheaded by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Srikakulam.
This scheme was a pivotal part of the Telugu Desam party's "Super Six" election promises. Naidu has already disbursed Rs 894 crore to petroleum companies as part of the initial phase of distribution. The cost to the state's coffers is expected to reach Rs 2,684 crore.
Eligible beneficiaries will receive a complimentary LPG cylinder every four months, ensuring essential cooking fuel supply throughout the year.
