Authorities in Mira-Bhayander assembly segment are grappling with significant absenteeism among election staff, predominantly from local educational institutions, who missed a crucial training session for upcoming polls.
Scheduled for October 20 in Maharashtra's Thane district, the training saw a dismal turnout, with only 19 of the anticipated 368 personnel attending, according to officials. Some institutions reported zero attendance.
The constituency's Returning Officer has sought the involved personnel's presence at his office, involving local police to ensure accountability. He highlighted the critical importance of adherence to the Election Commission of India's guidelines for the effective execution of the electoral process.
