Tensions escalated in Kolkata as police detained 29 individuals from a bustling Durga Puja venue, accusing them of distributing leaflets related to the ongoing junior doctors' protests for justice for the RG Kar hospital incident.
The group, believed to be supporting the medics, was taken to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar, sparking further protests by junior doctors who claimed their colleagues were unlawfully detained. Demonstrations intensified when protestors were stopped by police on Bentinck Street.
